Becoming a Follower of Jesus

The most important decision you will ever make is to surrender your life to Jesus Christ. Before we talk about becoming a member of Northwest, we want to be sure you understand what it means to become a Christian according to God’s Word.

How We Respond to the Gospel:

  • Hear the Good News
Jesus died for our sins, was buried, and rose again on the third day (1 Corinthians 15:1–4).

  • Believe in Jesus
Trust that Jesus is the Son of God and that He alone can save you (John 3:16).

  • Repent of Your Sins
Turn away from sin and turn toward God with a changed heart (Luke 13:3).

  • Confess Christ
Openly confess your faith in Jesus as Lord (Romans 10:9–10).

  • Be Baptized
Be baptized into Christ for the forgiveness of sins and the gift of the Holy Spirit (Mark 16:16; Acts 2:38).

If you’re ready to give your life to Christ, we would love to talk with you, study the Scriptures together, and help you take that step.

Joining This Church Family

What It Means to Be a Member

Once you’ve trusted in Christ and been baptized, you’re part of the body of Christ. Becoming a member of Northwest Church of Christ is about choosing this local church as your spiritual home—a place where you worship regularly, grow under godly leadership, serve with your gifts, and build real relationships.

At Northwest, we like to say that when you become a member, you’re not just a number—you’re family. We want you to know our heart, our vision, and how you fit into what God is doing here.

Growing in Commitment

From Visitor to Core

People connect to Northwest at different stages. Our goal is to help you move from just attending to fully living out your faith in community. Here’s a simple way we describe that journey:

  • The Community
People who live near Northwest and know about the church. They might visit occasionally or watch online, but haven’t yet taken steps to follow Jesus or connect regularly.

  • The Crowd
People who attend services more often and enjoy being around the church family, but haven’t yet committed to membership or serving.

  • The Congregation
Those who have placed membership at Northwest. They attend consistently, give, and support the vision of the church.

  • The Committed
Members who are intentionally growing—participating in Bible classes, prayer calls, growth opportunities, and building spiritual habits in their daily lives.

  • The Core
Members who serve, lead, and give from a heart of love and delight. They are all-in on the mission, actively using their gifts to influence others to fall in love with Jesus.

Wherever you find yourself today, we want to help you take your next step toward deeper commitment and community.
